An Attitude of Gratitude

"An ungrateful person is only one step away from getting their needs met in illegitimate ways."
---- Dr. D. James Kennedy

After Dr. Kennedy wrote this he went on to explain that if a person were truly grateful for their spouse, they wouldn't commit adultery; if they were grateful for their possessions, they wouldn't be in constant pursuit of the next thing; if they were grateful for the job they had they wouldn't be trying to 'one-up' their co-workers in pursuit of the next rung on the corporate ladder. The list goes on and on.

As born sinners, we abound in guilt, to which then God abounds in grace, and our response? (Should be) Abounding gratitude!

As children of God, why should we be thankful? Seems obvious, right?

1. Because God commands us to be thankful! (Psalm 50:14; 105:1; Col 3:15, 17)
2. Thanksgiving ushers us into the presence of God. (Psalm 95; 100:4)
3. Because thanksgiving honors God. (Psalm 69:30)
4. Thanksgiving produces the peace of God in us. (Col. 3:15; Phil. 4:6-7)

How's your attitude of gratitude?
