I Am a Passenger in My Life

"A baby feels hunger: well, there is such a thing as food. A duckling wants to swim: well, there is such a thing as water. Men feel sexual desire: well, there is such as a thing as sex. If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world...Probably earthly pleasures were never meant to satisfy it..." C.S. Lewis (Mere Christianity)

This quote does not tie in with this week's writing prompt, but I have always been impressed with the logic of Lewis' statement. What in this world truly satisfies us? As Christians, nothing but our Lord Jesus. We were made to dwell with Him in heaven.

As a Christian, follower of Christ, I am glad that I am a passenger in my own life. I don't think of being a passenger in my life as someone who is watching life pass me by. I am not missing out. I am merely being led through each phase or stage of my life. The driver, my Savior, is driving my vehicle and guiding me.

"Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long." Psalm 25:4-5

I couldn't agree more. The more I thought about this quote the more I decided I DID want to be a passenger in my life. Our take on this is the same.

It's a way of looking at things. And it seems to be right for you. Inspiring post.
