A Quick Cozy Project

Being in the mood for a quick crochet project, I put this Bible cover together last week. I love this waffle pattern. It makes thinner yarns a little more cozy, and the pattern looks so interesting. I was given a baby blanket made in this pattern and it happens to be my daughter's favorite blanket right now.

I am spending much of my spare time knitting and crocheting and trying to search online for wool and yarn possibilities in Madagascar. I am convinced that there must be supplies there since many wool and yarn retailers in the States and Australia import some of their specialties from Mada. Let's hope, so my love for this craft may continue past the few supplies I have tucked away in our crates Mada-bound. Plus, I have found some tank top patterns I am anxious to begin for the girls.

Cute Crochet

This crochet pattern is so easy, and so quick! The slippers pictured above will fit my 5-year old daughter but the original pattern is made to fit a 2-year old. Probably even if you are a beginner-intermediate crochet-er you could adjust this pattern to fit a child of any size. The reason I love this pattern so much is that it is quick. These whipped together in less time than it took to watch a movie--a huge plus when I want to make several pairs.

Sweet Slippers from a Sweet Lady

These slippers were knitted for my children by a sweet lady from our church who... LOVES to knit! She knitted a beautiful sweater with an intricate cable pattern for Joyanne to grow into as well. It is adorable and I'm excited to see her wear it next fall.

It is so fun watching my four little mice run around. :)

Chunky Toque Pattern

Chunky Toque Pattern

Knitting Needles: 9mm
Yarn: 4 strands of worsted yarn

Cast on 50 sts
Rows 1 - 4: K1, P1. Repeat to the end of each row.
Rows 5 - 18: Stockinette stitch, starting with a knitted row. Row 18 should end up with a purl row.

Row 19: K1, K2tog, *K2, K2tog*. Repeat * * to last 3 stitches. K3 to end.
Row 20: Purl row.
Row 21: K2tog, K2. Repeat to last 3 sts. K1, K2tog.
Row 22: Purl row.
Row 23: K1, K2tog, *K2, K2tog*. Repeat * * to end.
Row 24: Purl row.
Row 25: K1, K2tog *K2, K2tog*. Repeat * * to last stitch. Knit last stitch.
Row 26: Purl row.
Row 27: K2, K2tog. Repeat to last 3 stitches. K3.
Row 29: P2tog, repeat to end
Row 30: K2tog, repeat to end
Row 31: P3tog. Tie off.
Sew seam inside-out, and tuck in strings.

Cozy Toque

This toque knits up faster than you'd believe!

I used 4 strands of worsted yarn and huge 9mm knitting needles to make this toque thick and chunky.

The gauge was roughly 1 stitch per square 0.5 inch, so only 50 stitches were cast on to start this toque. I'm wondering if I should make a scarf to match - although I may feel like I'm wearing a carpet around my neck if I do that! :0)

My Favorite Knitting Pattern

My favorite knit pattern so far is this little infant hoodie. It is the perfect little sweater to dress up your newborn or young infant underneath their blanket for a quick outing. It also makes the plainest sleepers look dressed up!

It knits up so quickly, and believe it or not, is pretty simple too!

The entire sweater, except for the hood, is knit as one piece, the seams under the arms are sewn up, and then the hood is knit separately and attached.

Now - I didn't actually knit the sweater in the photograph. My grandmother knit it for my newest addition. All of the baby sweaters I have knit, I have given away.
