You Know You're A Homeschooler When ...

I thought my fellow homeschool readers may enjoy these. I'm sure you may have heard some before. Have any of your own to share? Leave a comment!

You know you're a homeschooler when...

You have to add the words: "homeschool, homeschooler, and homeschooling" to your computer's spell checker so it will stop marking them as wrong!

You take a trip to the grocery store and your child keeps track of your spending and compares prices using unit pricing.

A trip to the vet is a science field trip.

The principal can give the teacher a pat on the behind and it's not harassment

Your formal dining room now has a computer, copy machine and many book shelves and there are educational posters and maps all over the walls.

Talking out loud to yourself is a parent/teacher conference

Your home economics class curriculum consists of bottle-feeding, diaper changing, and wiping up spit-up.

You consider school work after lunch to be cruel and unusual punishment.

Your teacher gets you started in math and then runs off to take a shower.

You had to look at the clock to see if you could call your public school friends yet.

A snow day meant that you had to shovel the driveway after you finished your school work.

You have suffered through Saxon Math.

You checked out more than 10 books each time you visited the library.

Your mom counted watching a war movie as history and playing out in the snow as PE.

You heard the phrase “socialization” and laughed because you had more friends and knew more people than your public school friends.

Amanda: AH! Saxon Math was was certainly a stumbling block in my homeschool experience too. My mom said that the kids' teacher also groans when he hears the word "Saxon" Haha.

Luey: Thank you for leaving some feedback at the site today.
